Mars and Venus will appear in particular zodiac signs in your birth chart. If you're a woman, check where Mars is located and if you're a man, look for Venus in your chart. Refer to the table (right) for the qualities you would expect to find in a male or female of the particular sign. Each sign is affiliated to one of four elements: Earth, Fire, Air, or Water. A person's rising sign or ascendant is important. It governs the way we express ourselves. Therefore, if you know when you partner was born, check his or her rising sign, or ascendant, as it will be a major influence on him or her.
Attraction is not always automatic. Although the sign occupied by Venus or Mars is good indicator for happy relationships it does not necessarily mean that people born under that sign will be your best match. It merely says that the qualities of that sign will need to be present.
